Time Saver for Busy Families?

By Polly | July 1, 2006

No time to grocery shop, buy diapers, or toilet paper?  Have no fear, you can buy it all (or just about) at Amazon.com now.  Amazon has expanded it product offerings and now offer dry good groceries, paper products, laundry detergent, and diapers online.  All of which qualify for free shipping if you purchase over $25.  The downside is that you have to buy in large bulk quantities (quantities even larger than Costco or Sam’s Club), so you need to have the room to store everything.

I did a quick price check and have found the prices comparable to my local grocery store and Target, but still more expensive then Costco.  For example, Pampers Size 3 Diapers at Target are $19.89 for 84 and are $37.87 for 160 at Amazon or about 24 cents apiece at both places.   Charmin Ultra Giant Rolls are $17.89 for 30 rolls or 60 cents a roll at Costco and are $38.74 for 40 rolls or 97 cents a roll at Amazon.  Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Popcorn is $6.99 for 24 packs at Costco and $23.70 for 36 packs at Amazon, a difference of about 37 cents per pack.  The same popcorn at my local grocery store is $7.99 for 10 packs or 80 cents a pack, over double the price of Costco.

So if you are looking to save some time and don’t make regular trips to large warehouse stores like Costco or Sam’s Club, then Amazon should be of help both in terms of time and money.  Remember though, make room to store everything!

I want to send out a shout of thanks to Erin at Free Public Speakers for letting me know about this new add at Amazon.  Thanks Erin!
