Our Fresh Start idea for today is to get honest about our parenting weaknesses. Being a good parent is an important building block to having a strong family life. Parents are the backbones of every family and any struggles we have parenting will eventually start to affect our family life, relationships, and children’s behavior. So our challenge for today is to get honest about our parenting weaknesses, write them down, and make a plan to fix them. Here are a few tips to guide you in finding help for your struggles:
1. Join a support group such as a local moms group or a parenting group offered through your local community services, local library, or religious organization. Talking with other parents is a great way to get emotional support and possible solutions to your challenges.
2. Check out some of the latest parenting books to give you advice. From sibling rivalry to teaching responsibility there are a lot of choices to help you find answers. Here are a couple ideas to get you started.
- If I Have to Tell You One More Time
- Parenting with Love & Logic
- The Big Book of Parenting Solutions
- Screamfree Parenting
3. Consider hiring a parenting coach to help you find solutions for your problems. Parent coaches are a great way to talk through your issues with a trained professional. Parent coaches walk through the parenting process with parents and provide tools and support to help them make changes. Here are some good ones to help get you started.

- Susan Heid at The Confident Mom
Good luck!
